35 year old Munni Devi from Munger district Bihar. She is HIV positive, her husband Vijay Das
passed away of HIV/AIDS 10 days before this picture was taken. At present she is living with her
two sons and mother-in-law, who are surviving on an income from making bidi cigarettes for a
local tobacco company. Her elder son stopped his studies due to his father’s persistent health
problems and now he has to take care of his family. Munni Devi is visiting ART center regularly
and the Referral Unit in Munger is monitoring her progress. Munni is worried that she will soon die
and her sons and elderly mother-in-law will have to fend for themselves.
