Hak Sy

12 year old Hak Sy from Bantea Mancheay province was sold by her mother to a trafficker, who took her across the border into Thailand at Poipet. She was forced to sell flowers and candy in Pattaya for 2 years before being sold to a foreigner for 8000 Thai baht (about £120). After three attempts Hak Sy finally ran away to the Thai police who took her back to Poipet.

Now in a centre for trafficked children, she says her life is better. She is having school lessons and has made friends at the centre, but still misses her mother who she has never seen since.
